Coronaviruses are the RNA viruses that cause Respiratory tract infection in humans (range, mild to lethal infections). These viruses belong to:

Phylum: Pisuviricota

Kingdom: Orthornavirae

Class: Pisoniviricetes

Order: Nidovirales

Family: Coronaviridae

Subfamily: Orthocoronavirinae

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a deadly virus, initiated from Wuhan, Hubei in central China, which is caused by a novel coronavirus, named a SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome). COVID-19 is the reason for a large no of deaths all over the world, causing a serious threat to the public and declared as a global pandemic by the WHO. The genome of the virus has an enveloped, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA. SARS-CoV-2 belongs to the β genus and it contains 4 structural proteins S(spike), E(envelope), M(membrane), N (nucleocapsid) protein.

Effects:

This effect of this virus may vary from person to person, and the most symptoms of the infection are Dry cough, tiredness, fever. Aches and Pain, Diarrhea, Headache are some of the common symptoms due to the virus, difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath, chest pain is some of the serious symptoms.

How can we prevent from infection?

  • Stay at home
  • Maintain self-distancing
  • Wash hands, keep hygiene
  • Cover your face while going out
  •  

WHO GUIDELINES:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.
  • Keep self-distance from anyone who has cough.
  • Don’t touch your eyes nose and mouth while you’re outside.
  • Try to stay at home.
  • Avoid going to crowded places and maintain physical distance (1-3 feet).
  • Keep yourself updated with the latest information
